Story
We follow Rupert Campbell-Black and Tony Baddingham as their long-standing rivalry reaches its climax. Coincidentally, Aidan Turner has filmed at Chavenage House before (The Priory in Rivals). Trenwith House was also filmed at the same location in the 2015 TV adaptation of Poldark. I laugh at some of the reviews, clearly written by readers who take themselves too seriously. It’s a Jilly Cooper adaptation. This is not a show to intellectualise or moralise. It’s great fun. The cast is brilliant. Yes, RCB’s hair and eyes are the wrong colour. As is Taggies’ hair. But they work. Somehow. RCB will disappoint some people because of that. But Alex Hassell does everything else justice. Danny Dyer is perfect. David Tennant is, as always, PERFECT. And Aidan Turner is simply wonderful, if a bit young for Declan. He does falter a bit in the last third. But yeah. It’s fantastic fun. I watched the whole thing in one sitting.
