Story
A modern tale of the pursuit of fortune in the world of oil rigs in West Texas. A landowner, at least one who works in the oil industry, acts as a go-between for exploration companies and landowners. Generally, a landowner’s job is to negotiate and finalize agreements with landowners who have mineral rights to lease those rights to the company they represent.

They essentially control the land and secure the lease so they can drill for oil and gas. Like a foreman on a construction site, they build roads, male-camp housing, assemble dredges, and drill wells themselves, especially in remote locations. They also repair parts, troubleshoot, and help out.
A very good start to a two-episode series!
Billy Bob Thorton (Tommy Norris) is absolutely brilliant in the lead role. I noticed Jacob Lofland (Cooper Norris) when he was on ‘Justified’. But Ali Larter (Angela Norris) as Tommy’s ex-wife and Michelle Randolph (Ainsley Norris), Tommy’s daughter, are unbearable and I’m already hoping for the worst.

things are happening to them! Jon Hamm’s character (Monty Miller), who is the owner of the company and Tommy’s boss, could represent some of my, hopefully, unfulfilled fears about this growing series. In short, I’m afraid that creator/writer Taylor Sheridan could fall into a sticker mentality and reduce the show to: Big Oil: Bad!
