in Death Race 2000 opposite David Carradinein 1975
Story
A father and son working as security guards for an armored truck company encounter a team of would-be robbers while on a bridge. They become trapped and must come up with a plan to escape and ensure their survival. The only other time Sly has played an antagonist was in Robert Rodriguez’s Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over in 2003. Also.
That’s the only good thing I can say about it
Armored cash transports rely heavily on GPS tracking systems to enhance their security. If something goes wrong – whether it’s an accident, an attack, or an unexpected stop – GPS data helps emergency responders understand the situation and get to the vehicle quickly. The plot had holes big enough to drive an armored truck through. Unstable plastic explosives wouldn’t be my first choice for what to take on a heist.
It also arrives at the perfect moment
Bullets fly, grenades explode, vehicles engage in a slow-motion bumper-to-bumper game on deserted roads, but no one notices. Gunfire erupts on a bridge for what is presented as hours, but not a single car passes by until it’s needed. Houses are close to the so-called “action,” easily within reach, but no one calls out about explosions or gunfire. The roads that wind through the Nevada desert see more traffic.
Not bad, but not good either
Stallone has talked a lot, but done little. I suppose that’s to be expected at this stage of his career. The entire film strained my sense of disbelief and even disappointed me. There was no sense of realism.
